The home page sets the tone for a visitor\u2019s web experience. The page displays scannable<\/em> content, making accessible various aspects of our environmental research story for the broadest possible audience\u2014from leadership to donors and student\/faculty researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The layout of the page should remain as is. To make text\/image\/animation updates, refer to the specific section below and consult the Page Tutorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may also refer to the Home page video<\/strong> on the Training Videos page.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photo home feature<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Within the Photo Home Feature block,<\/a> the hero text<\/strong> and lead in text<\/strong> work together to send a clear message to site visitors about the vision for environmental research at WashU and the purpose of this website. Up to four different images can be added, from which the system will select randomly to display on load. Instructions on how to edit this section are included in Training Video #1.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This area displays progress highlights from the center. When more data is available to display, those can be added to a Progess and Milestones page (that was discussed pre-launch) and a link can be added in this block to that page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This area uses the By the numbers block<\/a> and can be customized as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To edit the red call to action<\/strong> at any point, refer to the Button block tutorial.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WashU Ecosystem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This section reinforces the idea of the center as a connector so it links to the child\/sub-page of Connect<\/a> that lists all the environment-focused university entities\/programs, even if they are not part of the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This section uses the animation block. This does not have to be updated frequently but when needed, refer to the Animation block tutorial.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featured research & stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This section automatically pulls in the three latest posts that are categorized with Research.<\/em> <\/strong>All the settings for the Latest Post block<\/a> should remain as is. If a site admin wants to feature different stories in this section, those should be managed through Posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featured video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this block is to highlight award-winning storytelling around WashU’s environmentally focused research projects. At launch, this area uses the Wide media spotlight block featuring the Sacred Sediments video. To update the video, refer to the Wide Media Spotlight tutorial.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Button block currently points to The Source story. For instructions on updating it, refer to the Button block tutorial.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the news<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This section uses the clips block to pull in offsite news stories that reinforce the recognition of our environmental research in the media. Refer to the Clips block tutorial<\/a> for instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connect with us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This section encourages site visitors to connect with the center by featuring upcoming events they can attend as well as email contact information and a Meet our team that links to the People page.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refer to the Events List block<\/a> tutorial to update the calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Text\/link updates to the Contact the Center<\/strong> area can be made by typing directly in the Page editor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
