The following guidelines help to make WashU sites more accessibility compliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Links<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wustl.edu\/items\/effective-links\/\">Make link text unique and descriptive<\/a>. (Just say no to links that say \u201cclick here\u201d or \u201cread more.\u201d)<\/li><li><strong>Subheadings<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wustl.edu\/items\/naming-pages-headings\/\">Use subheadings generously<\/a>&nbsp;to break up content sections. Prioritize clarity over clever, sale-sy headings and&nbsp;and use your site\u2019s pre-set heading styles (h2, h3, h4), so visitors can reliably use subheadings as de facto bookmarks on a page.<\/li><li><strong>Images, including graphics and photos<\/strong><br>Recognize that some visitors to your site will be unable to see images, perhaps because of visual impairment or page-loading issues. With these users in mind, include descriptive&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/learn\/seo\/alt-text\">alternative text<\/a>&nbsp;for images. Skip the alt text if the image is decorative rather than&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/WAI\/tutorials\/images\/informative\/\">informative<\/a>&nbsp;or if descriptive text would be redundant.<\/li><li><strong>Videos and audio clips<\/strong><br>Include captions and\/or transcripts.
