The following guidelines help to make WashU sites more accessibility compliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Links<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalaccessibility.wustl.edu\/items\/accessible-links\/\">Make link text unique and descriptive<\/a>. (Just say no to links that say \u201cclick here\u201d or \u201cread more.\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Subheadings<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalaccessibility.wustl.edu\/items\/headings-page-structure\/\">Use subheadings generously<\/a>\u00a0to break up content sections. Prioritize clarity over clever, sale-sy headings and\u00a0and use your site\u2019s preset heading styles (h2, h3, h4) in numerical order, so visitors can reliably use subheadings as de facto bookmarks on a page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Images, including graphics and photos<\/strong><br>Recognize that some visitors to your site will be unable to see images, perhaps because of visual impairment or page-loading issues. With these users in mind, include descriptive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digitalaccessibility.wustl.edu\/items\/alternative-text\/\">alternative text<\/a>\u00a0for images. Skip the alt text if the image is decorative rather than\u00a0informative\u00a0or if descriptive text would be redundant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Videos and audio clips<\/strong><br>Include <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalaccessibility.wustl.edu\/items\/video-audio\/\">captions and\/or transcripts<\/a>.
