{"id":2554,"date":"2026-02-18T15:52:01","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T15:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitaldocumentation.wustl.edu\/doc-central\/?page_id=2211"},"modified":"2026-02-18T15:53:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T15:53:34","slug":"how-to-add-new-chatbot-code","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/digitaldocumentation.wustl.edu\/momentum\/troubleshooting\/how-to-add-new-chatbot-code\/","title":{"rendered":"Add\u00a0chatbot\u00a0code"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>These are instructions on updating the 42Chat AI application.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Log In:<\/strong>&nbsp;Log in to your WashU Sites admin dashboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Navigate to the Customizer:&nbsp;From your dashboard, click \u2018Appearance\u2019 &gt; \u2018Customize.\u2019<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Find Footer Settings:<\/strong>&nbsp;Look for a section in the Customizer menu labeled &#8220;Footer Settings.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Locate the Custom Code Field:<\/strong>&nbsp;Inside the Footer Settings, find the field specifically designated for custom code: &#8220;Custom PHP.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Identify the Target Code:<\/strong>\u00a0Carefully examine the code currently in the field. Locate the\u00a0<em>exact<\/em>\u00a0block of code that includes the text:\u00a0<code>messenger.api.42chat.com<\/code>.\n<ul>\n<li><em>Example of what to look for<\/em> <strong>&lt;script\u00a0src=<a href=\"https:\/\/messenger.api.42chat.com\/api\/v2\/messenger\/event\/679a81ac3d11c4003981b7cd\">https:\/\/messenger.api.42chat.com\/api\/v2\/messenger\/event\/679a81ac3d11c4003981b7cd<\/a>\u00a0async>&lt;\/script><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Replace Only the Target Code:<\/strong> \n<ul>\n<li>elect\u00a0<em>only<\/em>\u00a0the code block you identified in the previous step (e.g., from to or just the &lt;script>&#8230;&lt;\/script> part itself).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be very careful<\/strong>\u00a0not to delete or alter any\u00a0<em>other<\/em>\u00a0code that might be present in the Custom PHP field if it&#8217;s unrelated to the chatbot (e.g. the sustainability logo).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delete the selected code block.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paste your\u00a0<em>new<\/em>\u00a0code snippet into the exact spot where the old code was.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Publish Changes:<\/strong>&nbsp;Click the &#8220;Publish&#8221; button at the top of the Customizer panel to make your changes live.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Verify:<\/strong>\u00a0Open your website in a new browser tab (or clear your cache and refresh) and check if the new script is working as expected and that the old chatbot feature is gone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/digitaldocumentation.wustl.edu\/doc-central\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-18-at-9.38.27\u202fAM-1024x439.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2220\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are instructions on updating the 42Chat AI application.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":29,"featured_media":0,"parent":2159,"menu_order":3,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.14 -
