Page Structure
Header tags provide a hierarchical structure and context for your page that search engines (and accessibility readers) look for. Each header should give the reader an idea of the information they can glean from the paragraph text that follows below it. Think of it as a page outline.
- Your H1 introduces the topic your page is all about. It’s the page title.
- The H2s describes the main topics covered in sections of the page.
- Subsequent headers, H3s to H6s, serve as additional sub-headings within each section.
Select headers based on content hierarchy, not header style.
Snippets
Most on-page SEO requirements are automatically generated by the system. The only item that needs to be completed is the Snippet, which is the blurb that Google displays on their search result pages.
